Pictures: Clashes near Tahrir, July 5th 2013

Video: clashes near Tahrir square, July 5th 2013

Some people in front of me getting hit by birdshot. You can hear the pellets disperse on the ground.
The Muslim Brotherhood side, filmed from the 6th of October bridge. You can hear a machine-gun being used, most likely coming from the other side (the 'revolutionaries'), because the Brothers suddenly all start running away. I'd run too if someone was pointing a machine-gun at me.

Instagramming Cairo: Stuck behind the riot police

Now that I have finally got wi-fi at home, I'm back to using Instagram. Here's an iPhone pic I took back in November 2012, when I accidentally got stuck behind the riot police during the clashes on Qasr Al Aini.
Riot police, nov. 2012
The vans you see in the background have just charged towards the protesters, and the riot police behind the vans are the ones that were too lazy to run alongside them. They are just hanging out waiting for them to retreat so they can then fend off another batch of stones and molotovs raining down on them. They kept this up for a fair few days. Good times.

Running from the tear gas at Simon Bolivar square (photo)

Clashes at Simon Bolivar square

Picture taken yesterday (28th November).

Didn't stay very long, because the harassment was absolutely horrible. I ended up scratching one man in his face with my key, because he wouldn't back down. Good times.

New clashes on Mohamed Mahmoud: Riot police throwing rocks at protesters

First anniversary of Mohammed Mahmoud clashes

The riot police are on top of two buildings in Mohamed Mahmoud - an AUC building and the Lycee Francais - with a bunch of angry protesters down below them.
