Instagramming Cairo: a bunch of old chairs at the Cairo Opera House

An oldie, but I think it's a goody:
Chairs

This picture was taken in July of 2011, but last time I checked (somewhere at the end of 2012), those chairs were still there.

Instagramming Cairo: Marters' memorial on Mohammed Mahmoud street

Marters' memorial
Again, taken somewhere at the end of November 2012. This was only up for a few days, then it mysteriously disappeared again.

Instagramming Cairo: Stuck behind the riot police

Now that I have finally got wi-fi at home, I'm back to using Instagram. Here's an iPhone pic I took back in November 2012, when I accidentally got stuck behind the riot police during the clashes on Qasr Al Aini.
Riot police, nov. 2012
The vans you see in the background have just charged towards the protesters, and the riot police behind the vans are the ones that were too lazy to run alongside them. They are just hanging out waiting for them to retreat so they can then fend off another batch of stones and molotovs raining down on them. They kept this up for a fair few days. Good times.

Instagramming Cairo: the pool at the Semiramis hotel

Now that I have finally got wi-fi at home, I'm back to using Instagram. Today I was at the Semiramis hotel and while I waited for someone I took this picture of the pool.

Swimming pool
It's on the fourth floor, yet the view is pretty spectacular. Unfortunately it was closed for maintenance, so I could only take a photo from behind the glass doors.
Inshallah, I'll be hanging out here sometime during spring/summer, so I can take a better shot.
